So after eight years of slinging this thing around pretty much every single day, specifically by the strap the holds the lid to the neck, it finally broke. I've dropped this thing probably 50 times on asphalt, gravel, and throughout my vehicle, but aside from some scratches it's still good to go.I almost wish I could just buy another strap thing because I've gotten so used to carrying it that way. Mabe there's some other thing I can get for it so I can see this bottle through for another significant portion of my life. My only complaint is that the small neck makes getting it super clean is challenging. I really just need a better bottle cleaner though.Aside from this bottle's long life, I noticed the top review here made a claim that it isn't actually BPA free accordingon the recycling code. That assertion is incorrect. Recycling code 7 is simply a "catch all" for all plastics not classified in the other six. It does not indicate any specific type of plastic or its chemical contents.Instead of jumping on a baseless claim like this, you can search for yourself to find basic information about Tritan, the plastic used by Nalgene, and see where it was tested by third party research and approved for food contact by government regulatory agencies like the USDA. Or I guess you can go by an Amazon review that cites "all over the internet."I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which water bottle to get since I want to help the environment by using (& only have 1 so as not to defeat the purpose). I REALLY wanted one that was dishwasher friendly though so I would actually use it.I was worried given the mixed reviews, but I put it on the top rack of my dishwasher and have had no issues at all with it melting etc. It comes out clean & good (I am in an apartment, so don't have the newest dishwasher, but a decently updated one-not sure if that matters). I also really like the size & that it shows you how many oz you have in it (only need to fill up 2x per day for the 8 glasses/day!)Versatile and plenty of volume. I keep buying these because you can never have enough of them.I love this product. It's sturdy, durable, easy to clean, and holds a decent amount of liquid.Perfect water bottle and would buy againI’ve been using Nalgene bottles since the mid 90’s. As a competitive runner and athlete, it goes without saying that hydration is the foundation of good health/performance. Nalgene keeps it simple in that they aim to provide a well-constructed, reliable and convenient product to drink from. I find it refreshing that the company values performance and reliability over what’s “trendy” or “cool” to own. This is why I’ve been buying their products for 3 decades, and I have no plans to stop now. A great company who provides great products. What more do you need?Best water bottle.I buy it again because I lose my first one.100% leakproof. This is my second bottle! I love it so much that when the cap loop broke, I got another one! Even for trying to remember not to carry it around by the loop, the second one also broke. Now I'm brainstorming alternative loop methods to fix it, because I do live the bottle! The con of this bottle - which should be clear as day and goes without saying - is that it will not fit in cup holders.... LOLThis is the greatest drinking vessel on planet Earth. I genuinely mean that. No plastic taste and more durable than the Hulk. I dropped this 46 feet off scaffolding and I haven’t noticed a scratch. I’ve stopped using glasses, I drink from this bottle exclusively. Bottle making has reached its zenith with this product. Everyone stop making drinking vessels now, we’re finished, there are no improvements to make. This is not hyperbole. This bottle has been on commutes in cities to hiking up hills and mountains. I've dropped it and thrown it around and hardly a scratch. No plastic taste what so ever, easy to clean (as already mentioned in another review just put fairy liquid in it with some warm water and give it a shake), durable beyond belief (I've read it can be dropped filled with water from multi storey car parks). Nalgene started off making lab grade bottles to store chemicals and have successfully transferred the robustness and functionality across to the out doors community. The smaller neck suits my drinking style and the screw down cap means it will never leak. The hoop attached to the neck means it can be fed through a carabiner, great for climbers or hanging this off a daysack. This will last a lifetime of abuse, it also means you've done away with single use plastic. A nice feature carried over from the lab environment are the measurements in millimetres and ounces printed on the side. Great if you want to use specific measurements for coffee or cooking in the wilderness. The 1l bottle is under £7 at the time of writing, what a bargain. I've had mine for over 9 months and plan to get a second. Nalgene also make kids bottles, if you have sprogs running about getting thirsty.I have two Nalgene bottles now, the larger open neck 1L and now this one. I actually thought I had lost my larger one hence I bought this as a replacement but actually I think I prefer it. It's easier to drink out of having a narrower neck and I feel like I'm less likely to spill the contents down my front when drinking from it as a passenger in a car as opposed to the larger necked one which although still a brilliant bottle, was tricky to drink from when in a moving vehicle. These bottles are really well made and very durable. My other bottle is 7 years old and still looks like new. Very solidly made and my old bottle has never leaked so I presume the new one will be the same. Also the bottle doesn't taint the water with any 'plastic flavour' which is a bonus as other bottles can sometimes do this.I have had a few flasks before where water can get trapped then it becomes stagnant and creates a horrible smell in the flask. These flasks are brilliant, BPA free too which is important for me. I originally bought two for my husband to take to work, I was so impressed with them that I bought one for myself too. They are easy to clean, with no tiny places for water to get in and stagnate and they are durable. I was a bit concerned about the lid and whether it would break easily, my husband has been carrying them round in his bag for the last few months with no problems (he has a tendency to drop his bag down on the floor too!). Will definitely buy more if required.I use this in my van and in life in general as well as hiking. I used to use standard litre bottles for keeping the weight down but I prefer the rigidity of these as the amount of time I have smashed or scraped and so punctured the standard water bottle. I'd rather carry the extra weight.I knocked some stars off for cleaning, I use only water in here, no juice or cordials but it does take a while to get any soapy bubbles out, you would probably be better using a sterilising tablet if you wanted a good clean.
